SCALE LANE BRIDGE
Realized in 2013 at Kingston upon Hull east of Hull city centre.
The bridge is between Hull’s old town conservation area and the not developed industrial site of the city. The black steel bridge has a strong character with a curving form. Since the overture, it offers to the public the unusual experience of riding on the bridge as it opens and closes to river traffic.
The bridge’s arches allowing small boats to pass under without opening.
The mechanical movement of the bridge is enough slow to allow passengers to safely step. Seating areas at centre to pause, relax and enjoy the riverscape views.
At night low level the fluorescent parapet underlines the bridge’s profile and brings colour to the dark industrial riverscape.
