Studio Weave designed a roof terrace in London
London College of Fashion asked Studio Weave to bring a forgotten roof terrace back into use in time for London Festival of Architecture 2104. The rooftop has a fantastic view over Oxford Street but was completely underused. The design makes reference to the textile history of the fashion institution, with a multi-coloured serge pattern deck. The timber is just low cost off the shelf larch decking. The idea was to find a super quick way of making something beautiful and colourful. The colours were added using a combination of wood stain and decking paint. Originally conceived as an outdoor space for students to relax in, the roof garden with its mixture of planters, seats and tables will also host social gatherings, small group learning and the Fashion Space Gallery’s events programme.
